PARODY DESIGNS
Started in 1999, the Brown Derby Series is one of Seattle's longest-running live stage comedy series. As the director, producer, and designer of the series, not only did get to bring together Seattle's funniest drag, improv, and comedic performers for "ridiculously staged readings" of our favorite screenplays, but I got to hire myself for the poster design.
The feel of the Brown Derby Series is subversive and silly; simultaneously parodying the movies they're based on, while also paying them homage. The posters I designed for each show, aimed to communicate these qualities while being delightful jokes unto themselves.
With 21 seasons and over 75 shows, the poster designs shown here are only a small sampling.
